Duct tape and tin foil....or bandaids and plastic wrap???..Civil Defense items for Natural Disasters have these items on their lists. I went out days after 9-11 and geared up the household with some of the "civil defense/red cross items" I'd been meaning to have in one place anyhow...Earthquake or major damage wind storms for instance.
Communities need to know where to go and what they can do to help in case of any type of disaster. The biggest item that we need help with is where to store enough water. And medical supplies.
Daschle has been a large part of the reason the funds haven't been forthcoming....they did nothing for the year 2002 to get the Senate bill hammered out--just sat on it, until FINALLY it was passed in Nov 2002. Then election, and holiday recesses till what Jan 5 or 10...a month ago they are all back for the new session. Now he is caterwalling about duct tape. Did he think this is a bandaid situation and handcreme?
To me, it is a duct tape and major gauze pads, some days of food, and a whole lot of water situation. Battery radio, heavy duth flashlights,by-hand can opener, blankets, tarps, and of course matches and candles. Plus batteries in large amounts. Not bandaids.
PS interesting theory, Hawk....I said something similar here a few months ago, and The Captain said "Don't be silly"....heeeehehehehe
As LB says, TWT.... Edit 3 minutes later....see this is a major grub...Let us hope it is a World Good Luck and Best Wishes Grub!!!!! |
