Nobody at the coffee shop had heard of them either. Darn things were everywhere the wind could blow. The golf courses were covered with them. Conditions were just right.

Another oddity I saw years ago, raised rabbit tracks on the snow. As the wind blew the snow the downwind side of the depression would catch most of the snow filling faster and making a little ridge. This would catch more snow and by the time the track filled in it would actually be raised.
