I wonder where everyone got this idea of pre-emptive attack from?

"Pre-emptive war..... Suicide from fear of death!" Otto Von Bismarck

It is just stupid.
When the most powerful nation the world has ever seen goes on record as saying:
1) they will attack pre-emptively
2) they will not rule out a nuclear first strike
3) they will not be held to previous multilateral peace treaties especially those concerning weapons of mass destruction - CW and BW

Then can someone please explain why it is so crazy for every tinpot running a fruit-and-nut republic to behave similarly.
Iraq shows exactly what happens when you get on the wrong side of America - they attack you!

Right now every tinpot and terrorist is on the waiting list for a couple of N.Korean nukes - they have no export industry except weapons technology and the slave/sex trade

Yup, they are all following the great example of G-W.
Thankyou Mr Bush for leading the way.
If we all go-it-alone then this is what we get.

I am living in Target A - Tokyo - at the moment.
The only advantage is that there will be no warning when they launch.

I am sorry but this entire situation is a direct and predictable consequence of the US policies mentioned above.
I agree that the US should not give N.Korea fuel and stuff when it is clearly breaking a deal.
But while the US does not 'rule out the right to pre-empt and use WMDs itself' it is really not in the position to lecture and expect others to listen to it.

This whole war on Terror should not be fought with 5 carrier groups and 100s of bombers. It is a covert/guerilla war. The more traditional it is the more recruits the terrorists get.

Just my view from Target A!
