Acacia Announces DMT Licenses and Files Patent Infringement Lawsuits
  NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 14, 2003--Acacia Research Corporation (Nasdaq:ACTG)(Nasdaq:CBMX) announced today that its wholly owned subsidiary, Acacia Media Technologies Corporation, has entered into 8 license agreements for its DMT technology with Adult Entertainment companies that provide access to or transmit digital audio and video content via the Internet.
  Acacia also announced today that it has initiated patent infringement litigation in the United States District Court for the Central District of California against 39 Adult Entertainment companies. All of the defendants were previously notified of their infringing activity.
  Acacia's DMT technology, which is covered by pioneering patents, relates to audio and video transmission and receiving systems, commonly known as audio-on-demand, video-on-demand, and audio/video streaming, and is used for distributing digital content via several means including Internet, cable television, direct broadcast satellite, and wireless systems |
