At this point in time, there is no doubt in my mind that the USA will go to war with Iraq.
I have explained clearly what my opinion is about this. For the record, I will repeat it in summary here:
First of all, I am no apologist, if it was up to me I would bomb every single damned known terrorist in sight, from Arafat, Gadaffi, Hussein, OBL et all.... but I would do it using covert operations. That is the reason of existence for the CIA, and I am sure they have the means to do so. In addition, a war to fight terrorism cannot be fought as a conventional war; in fact, I believe it is dumb to do so. But that is a different subject.
I am convinced that the war against Iraq is a war motivated by oil and currencies. i.e. control of Iraq's oil (the second largest reserves in the ME and a the only country in the ME that has plenty of oil and WATER. In the year 2000 Iraq decided to price their oil in Euros... this clearly represents a threat to the dominance of the US Dollar as a "defacto" world reserve. The consequences of oil being valued in Euros instead of dollars can have serious consequences to the USA.
Is that a reason enough to go bomb and kill innocent people?
imo the answer is no.
Does Iraq have WMD? I believe they do and they could be even more dangerous.... but once again, there are other means to means to resolve that problem.... and NO I do not mean the UN.
The USA had a golden opportunity to remove Saddam Hussein 12 years ago and for whatever the reasons were (imo a secret deal with Hussein and the monarchs around the area, since they very much fear an a popular uprising, as much as they do in Saudi Arabia)... that was a stupid mistake and now we are paying the price for that mistake.
The USA should STOP fooling us, WE, the people who live in this country and indeed PAY for the military and government. Enough of using us as cannon balls to go pursue their idiotic policies. It is time to understand that the world is not full of idiots who are ready to comply with the whims and desires of those in power and their secret agendas.
So.... I am ALL for stopping Iraq to build WMD and/or all terrorists. For that they have my support 100 % BUT NOT in the manner so far expressed.
Having said all that...
I do not believe that it is fair on your part to compare even remotely Bush or the government of the USA with that of Germany's Hitler...
Not even close....
In spite of specific policies and possible action by the US, there is simply NO WAY that any of these actions could be in any way similar or comparable to what Hitler did before, and during WW II.
In spite of the fact that there may have been specific and isolated actions by the US government and and the military that were not the best and most ethically correct, most, if not all of such actions were the actions of specific individuals, not as a known public policy of an entire nation.
I have no idea if you have any knowledge or not of what Hitler and the Nazis did during the war, those actions were lead by a bunch of criminals executed in an open, organized and systematic fashion and condoned by MANY (not all), of the German people at the time... and once again, there is NO comparison whatsoever between the two.
Most, (if not all), American soldiers have fought with honor and have liberated many people around the world. I will acceept that there has been unfortunate times in which these soldoiers were led to their deaths by unethical politicians --such as I would view the current possible war with Iraq. But even so... I am certain that many Iraqi people would reeceive the benefit of having Hussein removed from power. AND CERTAINLY NOT and action comparable to Hitler.
You are out of line.
The comparison between Hussein and Hitler is a closer one... |
