William- Alta is struggling with permitting on their Copper Flat project near TorC New Mexico. Ted Turner & Jane Fonda bought the Ladder Ranch (huge) next door and are doing everything they can to stop the permitting and ultimately the mine. The mine and mill went into production back in the late 70's. It operated for about 6 weeks and closed down due to depressed copper prices. The mill was disasembled and shipped to the South Pacific. The property has changed hands several times since then. While I fully support their efforts to permit and operate the mine, my personal opinion, after reviewing their published ore reserves and production schedule is that copper will probably have to go to about 1.75 to 2.00 before this operation can be profitable. Their is a thread for Alta, so further discussion should probably be over there. Tim Hall
