"You forget that no inspections AT ALL would be taking place in Iraq if the US had not placed something like 170,000 troops in the region."

I didn't forget any such thing. Without the self interest and support of the US, the UN is practically dead...and so probably is the world.

"How many has Canada put in to help?"

Canada is a large country with very few people. We do what we can. A role which the US assumes for itself is not available to others. Something you need to understand.

"Frankly, at this point I think the US should pull out and the rest of you can have a circle jerk"

You are missing my point. I do not oppose suicide. You are not the "Chosen People". You are just people.

"Iraq IS what this is about. All you seem to want is more pointless hot air."

I said that your assertion that you and I were talking ABOUT the many years hating Iraq, rather than the discussions of the CIVILIZED world ABOUT Iraq, was misdirection and irrelevant to the topic. I was speaking about the value of discussion CONCERNING how to deal with Iraq--not the discussion of rather or not Iraq is bad (DUH), or a thorn in the side of civilization (DUH).

"The only time it does ANYTHING is when the US gets involved. Europe sat there for YEARS and watched a civil war ravage the Balkans without lifting a finger until the US got involved"

That is because the US has the power and the control. It does not mean you are more intelligent, civilized, or caring than Canadians or British or others. Such an idea would be extremely stupid. Many British, Canadians, and others, have relatives whom are citizens of the US.

"Some example of "peacekeeping" they set"

Don't be arrogant. Canadians have sacrificed more per capita than you over the last century; and we have done our part in "peacekeeping" to show that containment may sometimes be more relevant than slaughter.

"If Canada is thinking of relying on the UN to keep it safe, your gov't has lost its mind. You'd better stick with NATO and the US. Or a new alliance with the US if it decides to junk NATO because the French and Germans have been bribed by Saddam."

It has nothing to do with that. Canada wants to preserve the values that North America was founded on...
