Ted Re..If that's what Americans take away from this flap, then I would say they are not seeing the whole picture very clearly.
Are you sure that if you didn't hate Gw so much, you wouldn't see the same thing as most americans.
A majority of Americans are prepared to go it along but but they would prefer a coalition.
Absolutely, no doubt about it. But it is clear that we won't get a resolution, so you gotta do what you gotta do. Which is another reason the Turkey NATO thing rebounded so badly on the troika. They overstepped their bounds by politicizing NATO. Nobody likes it. If they didn't like the resolution, fine, vote against it; but you don't screw with national security. After that, it became clear, if Powell had a picture of Saddam giving OBL a blow job, nobody would think it meant they were friendly. The Europeans don't want to believe the obvious, so why push it. Why do you think 80% of the Europeans don't believe Saddam has WMD, even when Blix states they havn't accounted for tons of gasses. The only way to make them believe it is to take Iraq, and shove the evidence up their a%%. then they might believe it.
And I don't want us to lose Europe as an ally........they are invaluable.
Just because they are liberal critics of GW hardly makes them invaluable. I think they will have more to lose than us. At any rate, Antiamericanism is stronger there than antiEuropean sentiments here. Hey they will get over it, when they turn conservative in the next election. |
