That is such a ridiculous statement. You haven't
done your homework in costing. All material costs
are much lower than the labor costs. Further the
cost of lumber is a very small cost of a remodeling
job - its the finish materials that eat money.

In 1990-1993 I remodelled (actually rebuilt from the
ground up) a house in S Cal. The total cost was in
the $250K price range. Lumber cost me well under $10K.

Just the cost of finishing the kitchen was over that.
That is just for cabinets and appliances. It was a
great kitchen, but the point is that lumber costs are
not much compared to other costs.
