I'd like to thank Datek and their staff for the over three years of overall good service they have provided me. Yesterday, I overheard a news article stating large layoffs in Jersey City. That's too bad as it seems the innovators end up losing. I wish all those who are losing positions the best.

What will Datek customers gain?

I have experience with both Datek and Ameritrade. Ameritrade was much slower in opening accounts than Datek. Things apparently haven't changed as Ameritrade is slow in processing a transaction that I FedExed to them Friday 2/7 and they received Monday 2/10. I called Thursday and all I was told was give it some time...it may take a while - classic Ametitrade.

Ameritrade (old) to-date still does not send immediate email confirmations of trade executions as does Datek to-date. I can place three limit trades with Datek, leave their site, and the emails come in as they are executed. Datek's emails also have the trade details. You don't get any email about a trade from Ameritrade until the next day and they lack any detail. What will we get in the end? Which trading interface? I haven't heard.
