Afghanisstan WAS destroyed loooooong before the U.S. got there.
Afghanistan had been bombed, blasted, burned, shot, stab kicked back to a virtual Stone Age nation through 20years of constant war, the Taliban were the overseers of desolation.
That Osama bin Laden and 2,000 of his toughest and best got away was simply Americans have become these spoiled wimpy creatures that think heroism is how many bombs you have and ground force soldiering is for jerks.
So when we bombed Tora Bora the mass of Al Queda escaped because we were NOT their to stop them at the two narrow passages of escape.
Why? Because, golly gee, an american might have got hurt(we, i gather have achieved divine status).
So are reward? Al Queda is out there and recruiting and building strength why the U.S.Government tries to cover their failure by distracting it with Saddam and trying to convince public Hussein is a big boy in Al Queda network. Which is a total fantasy.Max
