<<Increase in sugar prices is due to increase in demand over supply.>>

No question that when demand is larger than supply the result is that prices go up,no matter which commodity, article, stock, or whatever.<G>

In the sugar case the fact that Castro with his poor management dismantled Cuba's Sugar Industry, may also be a factor. (Albeit Brazil has taken care of some of the production slack.<g>)

For the actual sugar cane harvesting season or "zafra", which usually starts in late November and lasts until May (weather permitting),the number of sugar mills in operation in Cuba have been reduced further (another 30% cut)as Castro is placing his hopes more on tourism and the money that exiles send to their relatives.

The cocoa prices have also been going up (ahead of the usual Summer spike during the rainy season)because of the political turmoil in Africa.

Orange Juice prices have been trading down (we had a little spike in January with a two days cold spell, but in general we have been having a mild pleasant weather in Florida) Nothing like the kind they are having in Iowa.<g>

For the opportunity of nice trades on orange juice, when the price goes up at the limit for several days in a roll, you need not only a cold spell, but a good "wind factor". I have been able to participate in some of those in two or three occasions.<g>
