Why rush to depose Saddam? Getting rid of Saddam is critical. This will begin the stablization of the region, and contrary to popular opinion, will begin to cultivate pro-United States attitudes in the Middle East. Ultimately, this is the most important aspect of the war on terror. Secondly, this problem in Iraq is a direct result of the previous administration's choice to ignore Saddam's refusal to cooperate with weapons inspectors in '98. Clinton should have IMMEDIATELY said, "Saddam, the war was ended on the condition that weapons inspectors be given total cooperation. You've stopped cooperating, the war starts over. " And a troop buildup should have begun at that time. As a result of Clinton's having mishandled the situation, we now have a much bigger crisis than it otherwise might have been. You don't solve problems by letting them go. The sooner you solve them, the smaller they are. Iraq has gotten out of hand, but another 10 years will just make it that much worse -- for example, like happened between '94 and now in North Korea. We don't want that. We really need to get this overwith. Now.
