Al RE...It's very dangerous to think that a past outcome is necessarily a good predictor of new events.

It is even more dangerous to repeat mistakes of the past, and think similar outcomes won't happen. Churchill was warning Europe for yr.s the Hitler was rearming and everybody ignored the signs. Over 80% of those polled in Europe again wants to believe Saddam doesn't currently have WMD. Who is to say the results won't be the same.

We can this time. I know it.

Wasn't that the inscription upon Nievelle Chamberlains grave. All or Europe believed that the Versailles Treaty ending WWI contained Hitler. Up until the day Hitler invaded POland in 1939, everybody but Churchill said Hitler could be contained by apppeasement. If we don't want to learn from history, we are doomed to repeat it.
