Snowshoe, Wars are always fought due to perceived national self-interest. Any "sorry asses saved" due to it is purely a side-effect of victory of one side and is in hindsight. The same is true now. The game of geo-politic chess is on and Bush strongly believes it is in US self interest to occupy IRAQ. Everything else is sub-ordinated to it, although it may be shown as the primary reason. THus liberation of Iraqi people, democracy in ME, etc are similar to the "Frech sorry asses". They may happen if US comes out victorious. If Hitler had won and USSR had not helped out then no sorry asses would have been saved. Simba
