To start with, let me say I am not a passivist. But I like long term and permanent solutions, they could be harsh, or they could be soft. I am just not stupid. I know my strengths and weaknesses, I know what I can do and what I am not capable of. America doesn't have what it takes to see a job thru and so it leaves a mess behind everywhere. Under such circumstances, its better for US to stay out of regional conflicts. What was the point of Afghan war if they had to let Al Qaida, help Pakistani ISI escape, not to mention give up on locating OBL and his gang?

I'd say US helped create that state in Afghanistan in 1980s. But leaving history aside, this time they went in not to liberate Afghanis from Talibaan but to chase OBL. If OBL had been handed over, the plight of women in Afghanistan was irrelevant just like plight of Saudi women is irrelevant right now. So what happened to that goal about OBL? I hear Al Qaida is just as active, and Bush is deflecting his failure by unleashing additional Frankesteins on the world?

Nope. I said I don't want people to die BUT if they have to die anyway, I'd rather we not be involved. If for example Israel is blood thirsty for half a million Iraqi lives, let *them* take the initiative. Why should we have to dish out trillions to wash our hands with Iraqi blood ?

Its easy to go to war. Its tougher to bring peace. Peace requires truth, honesty, intergrity and greater sacrifices but - it is more lasting...

Another thing, people who bring the conflicts of their homeland to this country, wishing to drain its resources and wishing its sons and daughters embroiled in bitter wars, are not true well wishers of this country. Their loyalties lie elsewhere. They aren't even good guests here, for a good guest would never wish for the ruin of their host...
