One needs to look no further than to see who is up for
chairing the Human Rights Commission right now! (Libya)

Not only that, but Iraq is to chair the next disarmament convention. Yeah. Right.

The UN has made itself a joke.

As to Israel, you have a point, but one also has to recognize that almost every country now in existence was forged at some point by military or political conquest. After WWI and again after WWII the political boundaries of Europe were significantly redrawn. The Palenstinians weren't the only ones to have their lands forcibly taken from them and given to somebody else. Heck, now many American fortunes were made by the theft of land from British sympathizers after the American revolt? And again, how many Northern fortunes were made by the confiscation of lands from Southern owners after the War Between the States? That's how history works.

BTW, And when you say Israel was forged in another people's territory, if I recall my history correctly, Palestine was a British protectorate at that point, wasn't it? So the British had the right to decide what to do with the land. And Israel wasn't, btw, strictly a result of the holocaust. The process of creating Israel started at least as early as 1922, as a result of a Churchill White Paper.

And let's keep in mind that the actual partition was created by the United Nations. This was an international decision. So it should be one you fully support, as a step in the empowerment and validation of the UN. Right?
