This demand is unreasonable, imo. Please look in a history book, then tell me if the plans for the Occupation of Germany or Japan were all in place before the end of the war, let alone the start of the war? Our troops had little idea what reception they would meet. Basically, the territory was divided up, and a military occupation force sent in & told to take charge.

Nadine,

Did you read the article? This very point was addressed.
Besides the divide-up-the-territory approach in Germany lead directly to the Cold War, if I recall correctly.

Besides, talking too much about the post-war plans (and quite a bit of that is hitting the papers) only distracts political attention from the fact the pre-war plans are not all in place. We must figure out to how to start the war & win it first.

Here I must firmly disagree. Our military will have no trouble winning the war.

It is winning the peace that bothers me, and the concern that our cure might be worse than the disease.

Past wars give us no precedent for the sort of preemptive regime change we are contemplating.

We must have our endgame in place before starting, if we intend to have a total victory here.
