That's a joke. While it's called various terms intended to convey the "I" word ("insurance"), any gov't official who calls it that is subject to termination or jail, since it's a lie. It's simply a hidden tax, used for the general fund at the complete discretion of gov't, with no guarantees.
Again, the question is: why "scathe" anyone?
The idea of bringing everyone's taxes down is great.
Making "fairness" is great, too.
But regardless of what Calif does, Washington is guaranteeing exactly the opposite, and conditions will get rapidly worse. The Feds usurp tax revenues from the states by getting to citizens' pockets first, and foremost, with the greatest threats. Then they "share" some back after the skim, what a joke.
What the Bush Crime family is doing is exactly the opposite of "lower taxes" or "fairness", pure and simple: (1)raise non-productive deficits as far as the eye can see, and (2)cut taxes on the passive wealthy dividend recipients.
Better to take heed of Greenspan that deficits do matter, and cut taxes on the poor and consumers first, producers next, and passive wealthy last.
To take your suggestion of bringing everyone's taxes "down to the lowest levels that the elderly pay" ... I'd vote for you if you ran on that, and proposed a plan to implement it...
To raise anyone's taxes to what you or I pay, that's a bad idea. Increasing taxes for gov't is like giving crack addicts more crack. |
