<<<If helping someone in a crisis, without expectation of reward, is goal oriented in your mind, then you are a pitiful representative of the human race. If helping an old lady across the street is goal oriented in your mind, I pity any old ladies you may encounter.>>>
Both examples fall under the category of, "getting a warm fuzzy feeling from doing a good deed in a naughty world", which I mentioned previously. The pay off is self respect and presumably the respect of your fellows.
So, what is your view of dropping bombs on little old ladies crossing the street in Iraq? Is this something you consider to be honorable? The only reward is well deserved shame.
<<<Yes, the anthrax was cooked up here, but who administered it?>>>
Are you suggesting terrorists waltzed into our bioweapons labs and there helped themselves to whatever was required for their purposes without anyone being the wiser? Interesting concept. Let's take it one step farther. The theory put forth by the Bush administration is that Iraq has enough bioweapons to fill a football stadium, yet have managed to so completely secure those items that hundreds of inspectors and inspections have failed to remove those items from Iraqi control. Somehow I have trouble buying the straight party line that Iraq is a threat, but our own slap happy security makes whatever is required readily available to whoever feels the need to acquire it. If that's your argument, then the US can't be trusted with a potato gun. |
