It meant that the Iron Curtain divided Germany. If Stalin had not had his imperial ambitions, he would have withdrawn from Eastern Europe as America and Britain withdrew from Western Europe. Don't confuse symptoms with cause.

I am not now and never have been against 'ever' using force in Iraq. But the disarray I see in the present planning leads me to think we may be blundering our way toward disaster.

So we should not have tried to defeat Hitler until we had the post-war Occupation plans all lined up? Come on, this is just rationalization.
