It seems to be logical that the Jews would be able to live
in their historical homeland.

Regardless of the objections of many Israelis, I believe
that it best to reach something close to 1967 boundaries.
So IMO the US should put on pressure to that get that outcome.

However, I rarely hear of any compromise coming from
the Arab side.

From my personal experience, I had students 20 years ago from Arab countries say they felt Hitler was correct in wanting to kill the Jewish people. IMO that is what is
really in the hearts of OBL, Saddam, and many others.
