No reason to debate history of what a country did and didnt do. As someone pointed out, France did assist the American Revolution. Mainly because they hated the British and still do. As they did the Confederacy, out of the same passion. But in my opinion any motive of any assistance they provided was self serving, as are our governments motives.

So whether you love the French or hate them or both, I think our government needs to tread carefully in matters of state.

A Franco-Prussian Axis should give us at least pause.

All Im suggesting is some respect is due. Better to have them as Allies and divvie the spoils up front, than to fight them for all or nothing. Thus NATO.

You don't transport nitro in the back of your landrover through the hills. That describes US diplomacy right now imo.
