Eh. I can't agree with that. The UN just would've negotiated the return of the inspectors, like they've done now. As I'm trying to argue with Ted, Europe didn't like us in the '90s, and they don't now, either.

Maybe they didn't like US, but they LOVED Clinton.

You may well be right -- and Clinton and Allbright would no doubt have accepted the ruling of the UN. But the action of attacking Iraq appeared more justifiable at that time than it does today.

And to me, that doesn't matter. He's a cruel dictator, time to depose him. Other factors may increase the urgency somewhat, but his human rights record is really what gets me.

I agree -- and this, to me, is reason enough.

The perception is that the United States is going to somehow sieze the Iraq oilfields. And this is the reason so many are opposed to our actions. After it is over, and they see that doesn't happen, I suspect all will be well.
