ZO Re...Missile defense doesn't do anything for me. The best defense is a good offense- I'd argue it's easier to destroy their missiles on their soil than to shoot them down once they're released.

I really think that missile defense will come on its own, once the technology gets there. And the technology is getting there. Patriots might have had a 25% success rate in the gulf war, but right now might hit 50%. Not perfect, but good enough to make a countries reliance upon missiles vulnerable. It is one thing for Kim to have less than 50% certainty he can inflict enough damage upon Seoul before he get wasted, as opposed to a 100% certainty he can do it. His options are uncertain and limited now, and hopefully, he will cooperate. The SDI throws a big kink into the MADD theories, in that now, you aren't certain you will inflict lethal damage, which give the side that has them a big edge.
