This doesn't really give us an accurate view of the thing. Aside from the fact that America has a population of some 270 million people, versus a UK population of only about 58 million, since the UK actually bans handguns and America does not, we might expect hand gun deaths to be greater here than in the UK. Some people are killed by firearms simply in the course of cleaning them. What we need to compare is actual crime rates in proportion to population. I wager they will be fairly similar, though higher in America since we Americans are wilder, more courageous and resourceful than the Brits. (grin)
