Among the highest priorities of the administration is to make policy that will result in more voter support. The policy to support Sharon in Israel is dictated by the notion that there are enough Jews in America who agree with Sharon, and who will approve of Bush as a result. Even if they don't agree with Bush, they may be reluctant to give money to Democrats, which in the past received sizable contributions. Using vote getting as a priority in policy making is not new, but it is being taken to the extreme, even to the detriment of the economy and the long term benefits for everyone.
