or that chart indicates that the equities comprising the index are not going on to new lows as a whole...while the index itself is declining beyond what you would expect. that's what you would find on a successful retest and the volume on this slide corroborates that fact.

i am not advocating that stance, but am merely recognizing the existence of this possibility.

beauty is in the eye of the beholder. i am always suspicious when a given indicator is flashing an "obvious" signal.
