Isn't that also what Hitler was when he came into power. Germany was in a depression, massive unemployment, huge debts, currency worthless, and Germany was bound by the conditions of Versailles not to rearm. However, in 8 short yrs, Germany did rearm, and became the monster it was by 1939. Churchill had intelligence which told him the Germans were rearming, but they preferred to ignore it. Hitler could easily have been stopped before 1935, if they listened, but Nieville carried the day, with his cries for peace at all costs; however Hitler wasn't listening.

To have to answer such an email is indicative of how well the fear mongering of this administration is working on otherwise rational people. The industrial and technical capacity of Germany compared to Iraq. 1939 power scene compared to today. Think about it.

It is not just me. From Villepin's speech before the UN he warned of the consequences Al qaeda could wreck upon Europe if they aren't appeased. Do you think he was lying. You yourself fear the rise of Al qaeda. It is time to face those fears, or be consumed by them. We can all argue whether GW's plan is the correct one, but in the end, we had better rally around a plan, whether it is perfect or not, that will check OBL. To do nothing would be a huge mistake at this time.

I believe that those who oppose war in Iraq are not at all motivated by fear of Saddam or OBL. I am not in the infinitesimal least. I do believe that they are motivated by a sense that this war is completely unnecessary, by a sense this administration would demolish global order if unopposed, and by an intense dislike not for the political affiliation of the people in the WH, but for what they are perceived to be capable of...and with good reason. This is the single biggest failure of Bush and his cabinet. Their arrogance and hubris is their single biggest enemy and their eventual undoing. The events of this weekend speak this loud and clear. A banner of the American president with a Hitler mustache is a distinction no other American president has earned in my lifetime. An American flag with a swastika painted on it in a London demonstration. My God.

World class politicians don't waste all the good will of the world after Sept 11 and come full circle to this point. And you know who did it? Bush first and foremost with his unpresidential behaviour. He is a Reagan mini-me lacking the charisma of his idol and the good fortune of a crumbling USSR.... and his arrogant cabinet right along side him...with the unprofessional name calling, chest thumping, disfunctional doctrine and grandstanding...what a bunch of bellicose redneck morons.
