In response to this question, France has two convictions:
The first is that the option of inspections has not been taken to the end and that it can provide an effective response to the imperative of disarming Iraq; The second is that the use of force would be so fraught with risks for people, for the region and for international stability that it should only be envisioned as a last resort.
Its obvious France is too afraid to stand up for what is right, so it decided to weasel out, and place the burden on the US; and the rest of Europe by applauding, agreed. War is beyond the last resort for France, because Europe has no military capacity whatsoever, so Europe's only recourse is to beg for more time so as to forestall the inevitable. It would be like you getting in a gun fight with a knife. You might win, but not likely.
First the applause was coming from nations all over the world, not just Europe. Secondly, the US, as you say, is doing the dirty deed on its own, why would France care? Does it ever dawn on you that Bush is the one who might be out of control and acting inappropriately rather than Europe? Is it even remotely possible that we can continue to maintain the status quo and keep Saddam contained without going to war? Bush does not want to look at those options because he jsut doesn't want to......remind you a 4 year old? It should.
Sorry........your comments above are so ludicrous, they're not worth responding to.
Of course you won't, because you have no answer, except to throw insults. . You know as well as I that when you buy stocks, you look for growth. Growth is what makes them valuable in the future. Growth also is important to our economy, so important that without growth, our budget would be in deep do do,with or without any expenditures for Iraq or the war on terrorism. This uncertainty about the war on terrorism is costing the US growth big time, and the longer it goes on the more it costs.
When someone says $139 billion is peanuts in an economy where deficits have once again become norm, or when someone says that the alternative of not going to war is economic stagnation.....implying that war is the great econ. stimulator.......then, yes, I don't have a response because the person is speaking nonsense.
