Hi Marty,

Sorry for not responding to your earlier post yet. I have gotten swamped with work lately (and my parents got literally swamped in the flash-flood in Fort Collins, Colorado, last night, but that's another story). I will respond eventually.

Thanks for posting about the AOL thread! I have not had a powerful enough PC at home for the past 5 years to be able to check out AOL, so I have never really seen it. I wonder if we'll see more of a bias for a particular brand of pet once supplies catch up with demand? Bandai may figure that it doesn't need to have good PR right now if demand is greater than their supply (and they would have a good point: right now their money is better spent on increasing production than on advertising). But some advertising would be a really good thing right now, high demand or not. There are probably some markets that don't know about Tamagotchis at all, and it would be nice to get demand started in those markets so that it will rise to a fever pitch by the time Tamagotchis are finally available in those markets :-)

Your comparison between the number of posts is encouraging. It looks like there is much more interest and excitement in the target market (kids) than in the secondary market (stodgy old investors). When consumers are more excited to consume a product than investors are to profit from it, that is always a good sign!

I need to keep this short so I can get my work done early and help my parents bail out their basements (and hopefully salvage some of my now-probably-worthless Star Trek toy collection). Thanks for your research!

Kirk
