a mazed: I happen to agree with what you just typed...;-)

<<...this is a great series. these boats are an exact even
match. the only difference is sailing skills...>>

Coutts and the crew on Alinghi are at the top of their game...They are calm, cool under pressure, and make very few mistakes.

<<...did you notice how he politely disobeyed his tactician
and strayed from the most prudent defensive maneuvers
at exactly the right times today?...>>

Yes...Good point...Sometimes its essential for a skipper to know when to take calculated risks - often its a gut feeling that can really pay off (I have seen this in action when I used to do a lot of match racing in college).

<<...he knows exactly when to take the opportunity to let
luck happen...>>

Yup...remember that Luck is when preparation meets opportunity...Of course a great skipper (and tactician) will know when it may be prudent to seize that opportunity.

<<...he and tiger are on the same wave length.

they are unbeatable.

what amazing people we are watching...>>

Tiger and Russell are at the top of their games...they both know how to get into 'the zone' and are a joy to watch...Golf is more of an individual sport. Yet, Russell knows that he must attract, motivate, and inspire a team to accomplish great things out on the race course...So far they have been making him look good...;-)
