FYI: The RFID tag reader systems are extremely helpful in automated factory processes.

Ford was incorporating reusable RFID license plates on trucks being built in it's assembly plant in Norfolk, VA to track the progress of units through painting and assembly while I was on several projects there.

At the Iowa Army Ammo Plant, ICI Corp. rents facilities there and builds the gas-generating exploders (squibs) which inflate the air-bags in cars. There was an RFID tag on each 12"x12" product pallet that travelled along on all of the Bosch conveyor system so that various components and their status could be tracked through each work station on the assembly lines. Pepperl+Fuchs RFID readers along the lines were connected to the PLCs (programmable logic controllers) that read the tags as they passed by, which provided the system SCADA, QA, QC, missing pallet detections (..if an engineer or tech removed or added a pallet on the line during operations..), etc.

It's super technology.
