Bob, I think whimper because this is not a big surprise [like Oct '87]. Bears think there will always be another lower bottom if they wait. So even if they don't cover now, there will be an opportunity later. Bulls don't trust any rising market so they do not buy aggressively - hence low volume. Later the bottom will be 'obvious' to all.
