Arafat has been sidelined by other forces in Palestine now. It doesn't matter what he says. The more virulent forces are now entities like Hamas, which incidentally was the creation of Israel, which intended to sideline the then-dominant Palestinian liberation movements. Hamas did sideline the other forces, but it also turned against Israel... the law of unintended consequences at work.
