Interesting view.... What I find of interest also is that these candidate nations to both the EU and NATO know that, by playing both sides and pitting each entity against the other, they obtain significant leverage. If the EU becomes to domineering, then these small states use NATO to subvert the EU (with the result that Chirac throws a tantrum)..
