Micron says to trim work force 10 pct amid cost cuts

BOISE, Idaho, Feb 18 (Reuters) - Micron Technology Inc. (NYSE:MU - News), the No. 2 player in the fiercely computer memory chip market, said on Tuesday it would cut its worldwide work force by about 10 percent as it seeks to cut costs as it migrates to .11 micron manufacturing process technology.

Micron last month said it planned to raise $500 million from a sale of convertible debt to support spending on advanced chip-production tools as it seeks to expand a line of chips that have features that are about 500 times slimmer than a human hair
