LOL! It wasn't zonder, it was Mao. (Must be all those Inbox messages, right?)

If the war trigger gets pulled there'll be more in the US, not less.

There may be more, sure. Maybe not, but I'm inclined to agree that terrorism here in the mainland will increase in the coming years.

At the very least, bombing the Iraqi military and Ba'ath Party facilities into a stinking, bloody froth - as we should and will, as I maintain - is not going to stop terrorism in the United States. Anyone alleging or believing that it will is naive and perhaps a bit stupid.

Stopping terrorism, to the extent that it involves individuals who are highly ideological, motivated, and resourceful, is essentially impossible.

I tend to adhere to the philosophy of controlling those things that one can while simultaneously remaining cautious but realistic about the prospects of controlling those which one in all likelihood cannot. An incredibly brutal bombing of the Iraqi military and governmental infrastructure - again, as I believe we should and will - instead serves the greater purpose of (a) showing that we intend upon holding nations to their agreed upon stipulations, and, peripherally (b) goes toward showing states that, lest Afghanistan be considered a 'one-off' of sorts, similar fates may await those who facilitate or permit the training, equipping, organizing, or otherwise provide support to such organizations.

Terrorism is part of the new landscape of life in the United States. We're essentially powerless, in any case, against it. But nations that support them, or give them sanctuary, or that brazenly, repeatedly, back out of their commitments, can be held accountable.
