North Korea may be a perfect example of what can happen. My buddy argues we cant appease them. I say we can, if we can get china involved as the peacemaker. It was interesting to note NK language today talking about the US "not allowing them to improve their communist system." That statement indicates that they(NK) may be ready to move from mao-stalin to Deng reform mode but need capital to get the process going. Given anti-use of force folks in SK and Japans readiness to go nuclear(not good), a US/China solution(bribes without admitting to it) may work. If in 10 years, NK was WMD free and following the China model, that wouldnt be so bad, would it? And a victory in iraq will make other states less likely to try to get to NK bribe-city status. mike
