Good point. It may be necessary for the UN to fail before the full tale can be told.
It won't be that "Binary," as John would say. A more "Nuanced" version would be that the UN and NATO will becomes less important, and we assemble an alliance of willing Democracies to join us in the "4th World War." The UN, as usual, will come running after us to get on the bandwagon.
We assembled such an alliance during the Cold War, or "3rd World War," as it really was. As a result of that, there are now about 108 Democracies in this world. We are not directly responsible for all of them, but our influence is the reason they are around.
If the Iranian rulers look out over the horizon, they should be aware that they are in trouble. The storm clouds are gathering. They have lost the students, the women, and even now a lot of the Ayatollahs. The "Crazy Mullahs" are on their way out.
In Palestine, as Bernard Lewis put it, "Asking Arafat to give up terror is like asking Tiger to give up golf!" There is no reasonable roadmap there until Arafat and his Dictatorship are gone.
The people in Iraq and Iran like us and know that they need our help to get out of the mess they are in. The people in places like Saudi Arabia and Egypt see us support their corrupt Governments and look upon us as our enemies. We have to set out to change that. |
