Allen, Sony is now "previewing" blue laser professional equipment according to an announcement last Friday, the same day ECD delivered their 'box of chocolates' to investors. emedialive.com I guess this 'preview' is one step beyond showing prototypes at the electronic shows and nearer actual product release. The advantage of BluRay is that it can record and store 2 hours of HDTV, a boon for the consumer but a bane for Hollywood that worries about pirating. Anyway, with GE stepping out of our optical disc dance circle for a spell, I would be curious who ECD Ovonic disk would buy its' polycarbonate thin film from that would be suitable for roll-to-roll disk manufacturing: GE, Bayer, another? If you see Ohta or Strand, maybe they will have a comment to make about potential suppliers and share their read on where the rewritable optical disk market is headed.
