Actually, they have suicide down to a painless science now. One word; Nitrogen.

There is a nitrogen suicide machine manufacturer in Australia. He sells a machine that allows the user to wear a gas mask and inhale pure N. The user slowly loses consciousness. He continues to breathe naturally but rapidly suffocates from the absence of oxygen. His body doesn't "panic" because his lungs continue to inflate from the inhalation of N, which, of course, comprises most of the natural atmosphere.

If I'm very old and in severe pain someday, this seems like a good option for opting out gracefully and painlessly. Hopefully that day never comes, but it is good to know these things just in case. ;-)

heh
