Not so sure that is a totally accurate picture of the situation...If the average worker in this or any other country was as productive and efficient as the family farmer then you would have goods and services 3 feet deep around the globe....Free markets and zero protectionism would put a lot of non-U.S. agriculture out of business quickly...and sure, there are those that "farm the programs", but governmental involvement in agriculture has minimal results just like any of their other meddling..
