So when I see several thousand veterans of foreign wars claiming to be disabled while no doctor can find any medical reason why, my first thought is that they want something for nothing. It's the American way.

Possibly. Let me look into the subject a bit further before I agree.

My second thought is that they are older than they were when they went overseas, and getting older leads to aches and pains. It's a natural part of aging, especially if you are sedentary, which most Americans are.

Soldiers invading a country are rarely in their fifties. And I doubt if ten years of age would change that much in the muscled, healthy soldiers of US Army.

And anyway, I do not want to believe a group of men, their relatives, etc can be so dumb as to call normal wear/tear in a decade the "Gulf War Syndrome".
