JohnM, it's so hard to forget eight years of a good economy and a peaceful foreign policy The overall good economy - agreed, but the bubble burst over a year before he left office - so its a stretch to say 8 years and the recession he ran on was over before he entered office. And his succesor was going to have a problem whomever was elected. On the foreign policy issue - define peaceful? :-) Friendly with old Europe - yes. Non-confrontational - yes. Peaceful - how many people died from warfare or genocide during his Presidency? How many during the Reagan tenure? Bush 1 was a great diplomat and was also non-confrontational - and the original problem in Kuwait probably rests on Saddam's perception he wouldn't oppose him. He would have never tried that on Reagan :-) I don't know the numbers - but it would be interesting to find out. If genocide happens and its not on the 6pm news, maybe it doesn't really happen. Anyway - who really cares about 3rd world countries? John
