These charges are most likely true. And they were most likely true when we were enthusiastically supporting him (during his worst atrocities). And they are most certainly true of the dictator we installed and supported in Iran for 25 years (the Shah):

And that is just one of dozens (if not hundreds) of brutal dictators we installed or supported. So, don't pretend that Saddam's human rights violations are even the slightest factor behind this push for war.
