I agree that the pie is not fixed, but I am very skeptical that the rest of the world can be optimized to our level of indulgence. Mind you, I like my stuff, but having a lot can tick off people who have less. Of course this is the crux of most debates here and the appropriate ways of addressing the disparities of wealth. It is very hard to give people anything without destroying some measure of independence in them.
