As someone whose grandfathers family was wiped out by the Turkish muslims the issues are greater than Israel. KB has hit the nail on the head with the political/religious power politics of fanaticism.

One of my uncles was in Iran during the Eisenhower adminsistration and his observations were interesting. When you went a few miles outside of the major cities you went back n time about 3,000 years. A feudal system with the landlords having life & death power over the peasants. Peasants living in mud hovels. Tremendous levels of secret police control. Not much has changed.

If you look at it on a very fundamental people level. MOthers and fathers want their children to be safe, have the basic necessity of life. It is in the economic interest of the west to have a breakout of world peace so the overcapacity of production we have can be rationized on an international basis. The fundamental problem is cultural and communication. How to get there is a major challenge.
