Kodiak, If we get into a discussion of the Israeli/Palestinian problem, we’ll be forty years wandering in the wilderness, but given current events, we have to think a little bit about what is going on over there. Don’t take my disgust with Israel as a defense of the Palestinians. They are a disaster – but a disaster receiving no subsidy from us. When a suicide bomber from Ramallah blows up a bus of Israeli children, I don’t have blood on my hands. Not so the other way around --- when for example Israeli soldiers refuse to let pregnant Palestinian women through blockades in order to get to hospital with difficult deliveries, or when they shoot a men and his son as they crouch behind a garbage can, or fire rockets into crowded tenements. The fight between the two peoples seems perfectly symmetrical to me --- the Palestinians want to throw the Israeli out of Israel, and the Israeli want to throw the Palestinians out of the West Bank. Why are we taking sides in this quarrel?
