he doesn't make those decisions, the editors at the Times do...and their judgment ain't exactly 100%...

I agree that the interview was excellent. In the discussion of the end of Gulf War, btw, note the mix of deliberate choices, confusion, assumption, and so forth--that's the way things work in the real world. It's not usually the noble perfection of administration (any administration) suck-ups, nor the conspiracy theories of administration (any administration) critics...

there hasn't really been a definitive treatment of the end of that war published yet, btw. closest would be the section in Pollack's book, but it's not long enough to satisfy scholars. ends of wars are actually great stories, and rarely get the close attention they deserve...
